Ready to take up your New Year Mindset Challenge? Stay different and train yourself to think like a Divergent!

Our Topic Today: Be a Divergent Thinker

In this episode, you will find out:

The Divergent Movie Series

  • citizens are divided into different factions
    • AMITY (peaceful)
    • DAUNTLESS (brave)
    • ERUDITE (intelligent)
    • CANDOR (honest)
    • ABNEGATION (selfless)
  • The “outsider” are DIVERGENTS who think beyond the simulations of fear and out of the realm

Divergent Thinking

  • a way of solving problems wherein a variety of possible solutions are proposed in an effort to find one that works.

How to Train Yourself to be a Divergent?

  1. Think of the simulation as your own adversities/fears/depressed moods/things that don’t go your way
  2. Ask yourself what your routines are in response to stress/depressed moments/adversities/difficult times in life?
  3. What are your thinking patterns? Automatic thoughts?
  4. Challenge your own thoughts, challenge your own beliefs
    • Is it based on facts or your feelings/fears?
    • Is it exaggerated? Have you catastrophized the situation?
    • Do you just look up the evidence for your belief instead of looking at both sides of the coin?
    • Have you given it time to gather evidence and let the solution unfold itself?
    • Do you believe that every life question should have a quick answer or even a solution?
  5. Think beyond your routine answers and list out alternative thoughts!
